Lesli Englert, 32, began her painting career in 1999. Never formally
trained, she gained her knowledge by working alongside several accomplished
artists such as Christina Ramirez, Steven Yazzie, Jeff Cochran, Robert
Anderson, Melanie Corradi, Sergio Aguirre and Susanne Moulton. Her work
has been seen in galleries in Portland Oregon, Phoenix Arizona, and
Tokyo Japan.
Primarily working in oils, Lesli has achieved the completion of an
impressive body of work in just 7 years. Oftentimes heavily laden with
symbolism, the primary inspiration for her work is a result of personal
experiences, philosophy, religion, and the written word. Lesli has traveled
extensively throughout the western United States, and has set up studios
in Portland Oregon, Hoven South Dakota, and Phoenix Arizona.
Lesli was a founding member of Holgas artist studios and a founding
member of the Longhouse Studios, both located in Phoenix Arizona, as
well as the “If Collective” in Portland Oregon.
Lesli has twice been selected as a featured artist on channel 15 news,
as well as the Phoenix New Times, the Arizona Republic and Portland
Mercury publications.
